Technical review: 30 September 2026 · Scope: this website and the app’s AI features
Website and application are different contexts#
This page describes the current website frontend and, in McBasic™ app and AI features, summarises the desktop application’s AI data flows. It is a draft summary, not a complete or final privacy notice for the application, an AI provider, a sample web service or the Mac App Store. Running downloaded source can perform the operations shown in that source; downloading it does not run it.
The website publisher is QBeat. Contact: Contact details awaiting confirmation.
What the website requests and uses#
| Action | Current website behavior |
|---|---|
| Browse a page or download a project | Your browser requests files from the hosting service. The service necessarily receives connection information. Its logging, retention and access arrangements require separate confirmation; this frontend does not establish those policies. |
| Search documentation | The browser downloads a search index and matches text locally. Submitting the navigation search places the query in the page URL, so it can also appear in browser history and hosting requests. Do not put secrets or personal records in a query. |
| Copy example code | After you activate Copy, the website writes that example to your clipboard. If clipboard access fails, it selects the text for manual copying. The code does not read your existing clipboard. |
| Load typography | The stylesheet uses installed system fonts. It does not request a third-party font service. |
| Open an external link | Your browser connects to the selected destination, which has its own data practices. |
| Read Contact us | There is currently no website contact-submission endpoint. A mail link, when configured, opens your chosen email application; the website itself does not submit that message. |
Cookies, browser storage and analytics#
The authored website JavaScript does not set cookies, use localStorage or sessionStorage, or include an advertising or analytics SDK. This is a statement about the checked frontend code, not a promise that the hosting or authentication layer uses no cookies or logs.
The current private preview uses the hosting platform’s access controls. Any sign-in or session handling provided by that platform is separate from the documentation frontend. Browser caching and download history are controlled by your browser.
Third-party services#
The site uses local assets and installed system fonts, without a third-party font request. Links to the Mac App Store, documentation sources or tutorial APIs take you to separately operated services.
Tutorials involving HTTP or AI can contact the services you configure when you run those projects or features. Review the code, the provider’s terms and the data you authorize before doing so. Simply reading the tutorial does not execute its BASIC code.
McBasic™ app and AI features#
This section summarises what the McBasic™ desktop application does with your data when you use its AI features. It is part of the same draft and needs the same publisher review.
AI features run only when you use them. McBasic™ itself has no servers that receive your code, and the application contains no analytics or telemetry service of its own. AI requests go to the provider you select when you send or authorize work, including question answers, Approve and run, Resume/Retry and Review’s Apply selected. An approved plan can make subsequent stage and repair requests without another Send.
| Topic | What happens |
|---|---|
| What Send transmits | To the provider you selected in AI Settings: your request and its mode-specific context: selected source/layouts, edit scope, decisions, applicable conversation history, diagnostics or selected review findings, and attached material. In Fix mode this can include documents proposed from your bug report and the optional Last Run output: up to the last 2,000 characters plus the exit or stopped status. Inspect these for private data and remove unwanted chips before sending. Removing Run output disables it for this chat, including future Runs, until you turn it on in + Add → Last Run output (Fix). Editing the project invalidates the previous evidence. An automatic resend never includes newer Run output than your last explicit Send. A documents card can request permission to share and edit exactly its listed source/layout parts; review those paths before Allow. The removable Project map shares names and signatures and, in its full form, short header and public-procedure comment excerpts of up to 100 characters each, not procedure bodies. Its names-only fallback omits those excerpts. “Show exact content” lets you inspect the project content before it is sent. McBasic™ also sends its own reference index, and answers the model’s lookups with McBasic™ documentation; those answers contain no project data. |
| External Codex | Uses your ChatGPT sign-in through the Codex runtime of OpenAI’s ChatGPT app, which you install separately. McBasic™ does not bundle or modify it. See OpenAI’s Privacy Policy. |
| Responses-compatible endpoint | An HTTPS endpoint you configure, for example OpenAI or OpenRouter, using your own API key. See OpenRouter’s privacy policy for that example; other providers have their own. McBasic™ answers the model’s documentation lookups locally and sends the answers back in follow-up requests. |
| Local LM Studio | Requests go to an LM Studio server on this Mac: McBasic™ accepts only a loopback address (such as 127.0.0.1) for this mode. LM Studio uses the Responses transport and documentation lookup tools. The local server must support that API; the app does not start the server or download a model for you. |
| Provider retention | Each provider’s own privacy policy and terms apply. McBasic™ does not control how a provider stores, retains or uses what it receives. |
| Where chats are kept | Inside the .mcbproj project when “Save chats in this project” is on, so sharing the project also shares its chats. Otherwise in your Mac’s Application Support folder. A local record on your Mac lets McBasic™ recognise its own chats, so chats that arrive in a project from someone else are never treated as approved. |
| API keys | Stored in the macOS Keychain, not in the project. A key is sent only to the endpoint you configured for that provider. |
Questions and data requests#
Privacy enquiries: Contact details awaiting confirmation. Requests should describe the relevant website interaction and the information concerned without including unnecessary sensitive material.
Where applicable law provides access, correction, deletion, objection or other rights, the final notice must explain how to exercise them with the identified operator. This draft does not select a jurisdiction, invent a lawful basis, or assert a retention period that has not been verified.
Before public launch#
The publisher must confirm operator and contact details, hosting and email providers, purposes and applicable legal bases, retention, recipients, international transfers where relevant, and the process for handling rights requests. The application’s own privacy disclosures must be checked separately. Changes to analytics, forms, authentication or hosting require this page to be reviewed again.
